The Hammond Northshore Regional Airshow has contracted with Skip Stewart as one of its headliners for the return of the Hammond Airshow in October 2018.  As the recipient of the 2013 Bill Barber Award for Showmanship and the 2015 Art Scholl Award, Skip Stewart has proven to be one of the most entertaining Airshow pilots in the world today. Airshow Foundation President David Lobue said: “I’ve been attending airshows my entire life.  I’ve simply never seen a non-military aerial act that compares to Skip’s.  He will take your breath away.  I’m told that he stole the show from the Blue Angels at a recent Florida performance.”

With over ten thousand hours of flying experience as an Airline Transport Pilot (Boeing 727 and MD-11 Captain), a Certified Flight Instructor, a flight school owner/operator, an aerobatic flight school owner/operator, a gold medalist in regional aerobatic competitions, a Chief Pilot for a Fortune 100 company and more than fourteen years of worldwide airshow experience, Skip is simply one of the very best in the business today. Skip's flying has been featured in magazines that include Plane & Pilot, Smithsonian Air & Space, AOPA, Sports Illustrated, World Airshow News and Auto Pilot as well as in multiple other domestic and international publications. Skip Stewart is the first pilot to fly an airplane under a jumping motorcycle at an Airshow.

Skip’s Airplane, Prometheus the Flying Machine, is part Pitts Special and the rest is Skip’s own vision. Starting life as a Pitts S-2S, Prometheus was modified to give Skip the airshow machine he wanted. This flying machine looks like a good old American hot rod:

  • Climb rate 4000 FPM

  • Max speed 300 MPH

  • Stall speed 58 MPH
  •
Empty weight 1146 LBS
  •
Range 405 miles

Skip’s performance will be one of the show’s highlights and will surely leave everyone in awe.  For some truly inspirational video of Skip, check out his video, located above.
