Wonderful Forever

a Message from our mayor

Bringing back the airshow has been one of my top priorities since becoming Mayor. As an avid pilot, I believe the Hammond Northshore Regional Airport is a strong asset to Hammond, Louisiana, and the airshow is a way we can celebrate aviation and inspire pilots for the future. It’s also a catalyst for economic development as we draw people to the airport and to the Hammond community to let them see for themselves its growth and potential.

Growing up, my family’s seaplane business was a mile away from Alvin Callender field (New Orleans Naval Air Station) in Belle Chase. We’d have to shut down the business for their airshows. But it was great because I would climb onto the hangar roofs to watch the shows from there. When we visited the show, we could see F-15s and the big C-130s. It was incredible as a kid.

Airshows still have a special place in my heart as an adult. When I came to Hammond, I loved the airshow. I’d always buy a poster on the first day of sales, worrying that they might sell out. The Hammond Northshore Regional Airshow is our chance to meet talented pilots, to hear powerful jet engines, and to see amazing performances. We look forward to seeing you at the 2023 show!
